Profile

Dr. Katie Kimble Wonch graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish from Kansas State University in 1996. She then attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. She received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2001.

Upon graduation, Dr. Katie became the Director of Vision Therapy at the Colorado Eye Center in Denver, CO. This included an Associate Professor position at Pacific University Optometry School.

A work-related transfer brought Dr. Katie and her husband to Louisiana in 2003. Recognizing the lack of pediatric vision specialties compelled Dr. Katie to open her practice shortly thereafter.

Dr. Katie is an annually featured lecturer at LSU’s school of Occupational Therapy. In addition, she has lectured in the Occupational Therapy departments of Children’s Hospital, Tulane University Hospital, Touro Hospital, West Jefferson Hospital, St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Lakeview Regional Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Katie has provided several workshops in schools throughout Southeast Louisiana.

Dr. Katie also serves on the medical team for the organization Global Fingerprints. This ministry provides impoverished children in Haiti with free medical and vision care.

By far, Dr. Katie’s greatest accomplishment is her three children. “I believe being a mother has significantly influenced my practice and given me greater perspective as a doctor,” she says. When she is not practicing eye care, Dr. Katie is an avid outdoorswoman who enjoys spending time with her husband and children on their hobby farm.
